History of the weedingtunge
History of The Weedingtunge
I immigrated in 1998 to Australia and started a business "Adrian With Toolbox" which was a home maintenance and general repairs business.
Whilst doing this I came up with an idea to produce a garden tool that would remove weeds in a more effective manner than those currently on the market. This was by having two curved prongs close together, operated by pushing the prongs into the ground and hooking under the weed. A sharp pull on the tool would then remove the weed complete with the roots. Thus, reducing the possibility of regrowth.
On reflection my background in the Netherlands also helped me develop this idea as I had considerable experience in gardening. I also became a first-class sheet metal worker in the Machine Factory of Philips in the Netherlands. My job was to produce prototype designs products in metal for the Engineering department. Thus, the development of the Weedingtunge was made easier for me based on my experience.
With this idea in mind, I conducted copious amounts of research to see if anyone had a similar product to my proposed design, but could not find any.
In these early stages I had also spoken to a development engineer who worked at Philips Electronics who designs and builds the CT scan machines that are well known and used all over the world. He is a family member of mine and when he visited me, we discussed the idea that I had. This eventuated in him making the product drawings for me. He found this design remarkable and it will defiantly assist gardeners in the permanent removal of weeds. The history of garden tools has shown that they can only be improved upon, thus they became better and more efficient over time.
A prototype was made in Australia and extensive work trials were carried out by myself on various weeds to determine the effectiveness of it. These trials produced excellent results so the decision was made to proceed with production of this tool.
This design needs to be respected in its own right in the use of its name and the way it specifically works. Gardeners all over the world are looking for an easy solution to pulling weeds out of the garden and not have them return. This tool is the answer. The product will be excellent in both large and small gardens and cater for both commercial and the private sector (home gardeners).
The two prongs work like a tongue lick and hook the weed between the prongs without cutting the root and then you pull the Weedingtunge and the complete root comes out of the soil. The specific design of this product and how the prong points are positioned make this tool as effective as it is.
Above all you do not have to bend down as you use the tool on a long garden handle so that you can do weeding in the standing up position. The handle is not supplied with the Weedingtunge but are the same dimensions as the standard garden tool handle 28 mm.
In order to let the public know that this tool was available I created the website www.weedingtunge.com. This was started on the 18 June 2016. I studied Public Relation Management and have Business Diploma qualifications. I worked for twenty years for three entrepreneurs who were Multi - millionaires. I was their assistant in preparing the stock, running the warehouses and providing customer service. All of these are valuable tools that I can bring into my business.
Currently each day 40 plus people in the world are looking at the site information. This product will certainly stand out on the revised website by its functionality, design, name, colour, product packaging and cost.
Further Market Research is currently being undertaken to identify the potential markets that we could focus on and the way we could organise the distribution to get our product to them in an organised manner and at a competitive price.
My thanks to all the people who have supported me with my idea and in the development and production of this tool.
